What we can help with

My Fast Movers is an independent calculator and directory rather than a moving company, so it helps to know what lands in our inbox usefully and what is better directed elsewhere.

How an estimate was calculated

If a figure from the moving cost calculator looks wrong for your route or home size, tell us the inputs you used and we will explain how the model reached it.

Missing or incorrect route data

Distances, city listings and route pages are maintained by hand. If something is out of date or a corridor is missing, we will correct it.

Getting a company listed

City listings come from Google Maps by review count — there is no application and no fee. If a listing about your company is inaccurate, tell us and we will fix it.

Press, data and citations

Journalists and researchers are welcome to cite our cost tables. Get in touch if you need the underlying figures or a comment.

What we cannot do

We would rather say this plainly than waste your time. We cannot:

  • Book, schedule or cancel a move — we do not operate trucks or dispatch crews
  • Change a price a moving company has quoted you
  • Resolve a damage claim or a dispute with a carrier
  • Release a shipment being held, which is a matter for the FMCSA

If your shipment is being held or a carrier has not honoured a written estimate, that is a matter for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which regulates interstate household goods movers and keeps a public complaint record for every USDOT number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does My Fast Movers carry out moves?

No. We are an independent moving cost calculator and directory. We do not own trucks, employ crews or take payment to rank one company above another. If you need a move carried out, use the calculator to get an estimate, then request written quotes from licensed carriers.

I have a complaint about a moving company. Can you help?

We cannot intervene in a dispute with a carrier, but we do want to know about it. Complaints about interstate movers are handled by the FMCSA, which also publishes each carrier's complaint history. Tell us the company name and we will review its listing.

How do I get my moving company listed?

You cannot buy or request a place. City listings are drawn from Google Maps and ordered by review count, so the way to appear is to keep a claimed, accurate Google Business Profile in the city concerned. If a listing about your company is wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

Can you give me a binding quote?

No. Our figures are planning estimates produced by a published model, not offers to transport goods. Only a licensed carrier can give you a binding estimate, and it should be in writing after a survey of your home.
